One week to go! - Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Round one of the playoffs saw some great matchups and high-scoring affairs as this year's Fantasy Super Bowl will feature Carnage Inc vs Well Hung Jury. Carnage took down #1 seed DaWop 134-115 in the highest scoring playoff game in modern FLFL history. The Jury squeeked by the Red Bulls 108-101 in another high scoring affair... Round one of the "Best of the Rest" tourney had a couple of shillackings as the Ballhawks defeated the Bombs 137-76 and the Birdmen defeated the once again kicker-less Microburst 103-73. This year's BOTR championship will be held in a giant aviary... In week 1 of 2 of this year's Toilet Bowl, the Terminators jumped out to a 100-72 lead over the Repercussions, but the Repercussions are still within striking distance.

Remember that everybody plays in Week 16. This year's 3rd place game will feature the Red Bulls vs DaWop. The 3rd place game in the BOTR will be the Bombs vs Microburst.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck in the final round!

Fantasy Super Bowl
Carnage 134 - DaWop 115
Jury 108 - Red Bulls 101

Terminators 100 - Repercussions 72 (Week 1 of 2)

Regular season complete! - Tuesday, December 15, 2009

It was an exciting finish to the regular season and the playoff seedings are officially set. The Jury had a valiant effort in the final week of the season by racking up 134 points and defeating division rival DaWop, but DaWop managed just enough points in the game to hold onto a 5.5 Fantasy Power Point lead and the NFLC crown, and the #1 seed in the playoffs. The Jury ended up with the 2nd most Power Points and will face the Red Bulls for their first round matchup in the playoffs. The Red Bulls got back to their winning ways in week 14 by defeating division rival Ballhawks and clinching the AFLC crown. The Ballhawks finished the regular season with four straight losses and will be the #1 seed in the "Best of the Rest" Tourney... Also this week, Carnage Inc had a solid finish to the regular season to surge into the 2nd wildcard spot and will travel to #1 seed DaWop in the first round of the playoffs... In other news, the Birdmen closed out the regular season with a 132 point game heading into the BOTR where they will face Microburst. The Bombs also closed out the regular season on a positive note to claim the final spot in the BOTR tourney and will face the Ballhawks in the first round... This year's Toilet Bowl will feature the Terminators and Repercussions... Be sure to check out the Playoff Brackets!!

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck in the playofffs!

Jury 134 - DaWop 124
Birdmen 132 - Repercussions 63
Bombs 110 - Terminators 67
Carnage 102 - Microburst 79
Red Bulls 93 - Ballhawks 82

Week 13 complete! - Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Only one week to go until playoffs!!! Carnage Inc had a terrific game this week to stay in the hunt for a wildcard. Carnage racked up 137 points led by outstanding waiver wire pickup Robert Meachem and his 8 catches, 142 yards, 2 TDs, and amazing strip and score... The Jury tallied up 2nd high score this week and with DaWop's loss this week the Jury is only 21.5 fantasy power points behind DaWop heading into a final showdown in Week 14! Also this week, Microburst had 3rd high score and handed the Red Bulls their 2nd loss of the season. With the Ballhawks' miserable showing in week 13, the Red Bulls have all but clinched the AFLC (barring a festivus miracle), and Microburst has pulled within 9 power points of a wildcard, and Carnage is only 10 points back. Looks like it's a 3-team race for that 4th and final wildcard! I'm hoping that the Ballhawks aren't who we thought they were... In other news, the Birdmen had a nice week with 4th high score to help their cause for a spot in the "Best of the Rest" Tourney. The Repercussions also won their game this week, and barring a dominating week 14 performance, it looks like Dedo has officially locked up a spot in the Toilet Bowl this year. The Birdmen, Bombs, and Terminators will all be fighting for the final two spots in the BOTR tourney... Here are the Week 14 matchups: DaWop vs Jury, Red Bulls vs Ballhawks, Carnage vs Microburst, Bombs vs Terminators, Birdmen vs Repercussions. Hopefully everybody plays to win their game!

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Carnage 137 - Bombs 98
Jury 116 - Terminators 87
Microburst 105 - Red Bulls 99
Birdmen 101 - Ballhawks 76
Repercussions 92 - DaWop 85

Week 12 complete! - Tuesday, December 1, 2009

Only two weeks to go in the regular season! Both division leaders had great games this week to extend their respective leads atop their divisions. DaWop crushed the Terminators 127 to 54 en route to high score this week led by Chris Johnson's 186 yards and a touchdown. The Red Bulls manhandled division rival Ballhawks 124 to 85 to push their lead in the AFLC to 30 Power Points. The Jury also had a solid week by racking up 126 points and solidifying their push for not only a wildcard spot but also a chance at winning the NFLC... Also this week, the Repercussions had a nice showing by racking up 112 points and 4th high score, although their chances at jumping out of the Toilet Bowl appear to be slim-to-none... In other news, the Bombs won a close one this week by defeating the Birdmen 84 to 82... This week's FITA award goes to Carnage for scoring in the top 5 but losing to the Jury... Remember that the Week 14 schedule will be determined by the standings after Week 13 is completed.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

DaWop 127 - Terminators 54
Jury 126 - Carnage 95
Red Bulls 124 - Ballhawks 85
Repercussions 112 - Microburst 56
Bombs 84 - Birdmen 82

Week 11 complete! - Tuesday, November 24, 2009

It was a high scoring week 11 as seven teams scored over 100 points. Carnage Inc led the way with 129 points as Ricky Williams smoked the Panthers on Thursday night with 3 TDs. Carnage's big week inched them closer to a wildcard spot as they are currently only 24 power points back. The Bombs also had a nice week as they racked up 127 points to pull within 42 power points of a wildcard. It's still a tight race as the Bombs are actually in 9th place overall but still within striking distance! Alot can happen in these final three weeks of the regular season... Also this week, the Birdmen defeated division rival Microburt 125-110 in a high scoring affair, and the Red Bulls squeeked by the Repercussions 107-103... In other news, DaWop extended his lead in the NFLC once again with a big win over the Jury... This week's co-FITA award goes to both Microburst and the Ballhawks for having nice games but having bad luck with the schedule. This week's lucky duck award goes to DaWop for getting 3rd low score but winning his game... Alot of key matchups next week which should impact the standings and playoff seedings.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Carnage 129 - Ballhawks 119
Bombs 127 - Terminators 72
Birdmen 125 - Microburst 110
Red Bulls 107 - Repercussions 103
DaWop 93 - Jury 60

Week 10 complete! - Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Alot of close games this week and alot of things shaking up in the standings. The Ballhawks had their 2nd high score in as many weeks as they have now pulled within 3 Fantasy Power Points of the Red Bulls for the AFLC lead. Randy Moss was simply an animal this week with 9 catches, 179 yards, and 2 TDs. Well Hung Jury also had a nice week by racking up 114 points en route to 2nd high score and a ONE POINT victory over the Bombs! The Jury's big week has helped them nibble into DaWop's NFLC lead and extend their hold on the 2nd wildcard... Also this week, we had two games each with 102 to 98 scores with Microburst defeating the Terminators and DaWop defeating Carnage. Carnage definitely wins the award for smallest margin of defeats so far this season... In other news, the Red Bulls improved their record to 9-1 with a victory over the Birdmen... This week's FITA award goes to the Bombs who got 3rd high score but lost to the Jury and also had his 1st round pick Tomlinson on his bench when he finally explodes onto the scene. This week's lucky duck award goes to the Red Bulls for getting 2nd low score but picking up a W... Only one month left in the regular season!!!

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Ballhawks 135 - Repercussions 100
Jury 114 - Bombs 113
Microburst 102 - Terminators 98
DaWop 102 - Carnage 98
Red Bulls 78 - Birdmen 56

Week 9 complete! - Tuesday, November 10, 2009

It was a high scoring week 9 as four teams managed to score over 115 points and five teams scored over 100. This week also featured the highest scoring game in FLFL history as the Ballhawks held off Microburst 145 to 137. Microburst's 137 points are the 4th highest score this season, and I believe in the top 10 scores in FLFL history. Gee, I wonder who is going to get the FITA award this week?? The Ballhawks big week surged them into the Wildcard #1 spot and closed the gap on the Red Bulls' AFLC lead to 28 Power Points... The Terminators also had a huge game this week by racking up 126 points and pulling within 6.5 Power Points of a wildcard spot... Also this week, DaWop had a big game to pull away in the NFLC race as their lead is now up to 35.5 Power Points... In other news, the Red Bulls returned to their winning ways by defeating an Adrian Peterson-less Jury, and the Birdmen chirped the Repercussions 86 to 63... This week's FITA award is an easy one as Microburst got hosed. I feel your pain buddy. We're now up to 4 times that the 2nd highest scoring team has played the highest scoring team... Lots of season left still!!

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Ballhawks 145 - Microburst 137
Terminators 126 - Carnage 94
DaWop 116 - Bombs 82
Red Bulls 104 - Jury 66
Birdmen 86 - Repercussions 63

Week 8 complete! - Tuesday, November 3, 2009

The Repercussions bounced back quite nicely from last week's disaster by getting high score this week led by Reggie Wayne's 12 cathes, 147 yards, and touchdown catch not from Manning but from Joseph Addai. DaWop also had a great game this week to extent his lead atop the NFLC and close the gap to 1/2 power point for the overall lead... There were a few really exciting games this week as the Red Bulls suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost a close one to the Ballhawks 105-112. And Well Hung Jury had an exciting finish to their game on Monday Night Football as Roddy White held off a rumbling Michael Turner to stay ahead of the Terminators 105-100. In other news, Microburst got back to their winning ways as they defeated Carnage who had to scramble to get an active lineup in and replace a bunch of bye-week players last minute before the afternoon games... This week's FITA award goes to Carnage who had Maurice Jones-Drew's 30 points on his bench as he failed to get his lineup in before the morning games started. This week's mucho suerte award goes to Microburst for getting 3rd low score but defeating a Jones-Drewless Carnage by 10 points.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Repercussions 115 - Bombs 86
DaWop 113 - Birdmen 73
Ballhawks 112 - Red Bulls 105
Jury 105 - Terminators 100
Microburst 78 - Carnage 68

Mid-season report! - Tuesday, October 27, 2009

We are officially halfway through the regular season, and it looks like just about everybody still has a chance to claim the crown! Week 7 was a high scoring week and with all the excitement a record was even shattered this week! More on that later... Bill's Bombs finally found some life this week as they racked up 133 points for high score with a pretty well balanced attack led by a couple of last-minute WR pickups and the Eagles D who had 6 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 INT, and 1 TD. The Bombs' big week moved them within 30 Fantasy Power Points of a wildcard spot, even though they are still sitting in 9th place overall. Lots of teams currently with very similar Power Point totals! Also this week, the Red Bulls jumped into first place overall with 2nd high score and a big win to remain undefeated... In other news, the Jury completely demolished the Repercussions 107 to 26, as Dedo broke the all-time record for lowest score in the history of the FLFL - which yielded only 2 Fantasy Power Points this week. OUCH! The Birdmen also had a solid week as they defeated Carnage to stay within striking distance of the Red Bulls in the AFLC, and the Terminators squeeked by DaWop by ONE POINT 87-86. Only 26 Power Points currently separate the top 4 teams in the NFLC... This week's FITA award goes to the Repercussions for his QB and RB missing the flight to the game.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Bombs 133 - Ballhawks 104
Red Bulls 117 - Microburst 79
Jury 107 - Repercussions 26
Birdmen 105 - Carnage 94
Terminators 87 - DaWop 86

Week 6 complete! - Tuesday, October 20, 2009

DaWop came out with guns blazing in week 6 to get high score and leapfrog the Jury for 1st place overall in the standings. DaWop had a well balanced attack led by Marques Colston's 8 catches, 166 yards and TD. Carnage finally won a close one this week by getting 3rd high score and winning his matchup by 5 points. Also this week, Microburst jizzed the Repercussions and the Red Bulls remain undefeated with a nice win over the Terminators. In other news, the Birdmen silenced the Jury who had previously had 2 high scores in a row. This week's FITA award goes to the Ballhawks for getting 2nd high score but losing to DaWop. That makes 3 times already this season that the 2nd high score got hosed (twice by yours truly!). Lucky duck (lucky bird?) award goes to Birdman for getting 2nd low score but beating the Jury.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

DaWop 132 - Ballhawks 126
Carnage 113 - Bombs 108
Microburst 104 - Repercussions 90
Red Bulls 100 - Terminators 92
Birdmen 88 - Jury 78

Week 5 complete! - Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Well Hung Jury is on a roll! The Jury racked up 152 points this week en route to their 2nd high score in a row led by Rowdy Roddy White's 8 catches, 210 yards, and 2 TDs. With this huge game the Jury has surged into first place overall! I feel for whoever has to play the Jury next week while they are riding this wave - looks like it's you Birdman. Good luck! Also this week, the Terminators racked up 2nd high score as they are quietly putting together a solid season and are currently only 18.5 fantasy power points out of first place overall... In other news, Microburst rebounded from some injuries and a couple of disappointing weeks in a row by getting 3rd high score this week and moving them only 12 power points behind the Red Bulls in the AFLC standings. Speaking of the Red Bulls - luck sure seems to be on their side this season as they had the 2nd lowest score of the week but still managed to pick up a W to stay undefeated! And finally - the top story of the week is that Carnage lost to DaWop by ONE POINT! That makes back-to-back one point losses and their 3 losses are now by a combined 2.1 points. Major FITA award! The good news for Carnage is that they are still sitting pretty at only 26.5 power points out of first place. Still plenty of season left!

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Jury 152 - Bombs 74
Terminators 105 - Repercussions 73
Microburst 102 - Ballhawks 82
DaWop 86 - Carnage 85
Red Bulls 69 - Birdmen 65

Week 4 complete! - Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Ladies and gentlemen of the jjjjjjjjjjuurrrryyy..... Well Hung Jury slapped the Ballhawks with 9 inches of limp this week with a huge 117 to 111 victory and high score. The Jury was led by Antonio Gates' huge 2nd half and Garrard's monster game. The Jury's big week has surged them in the standings and are currently only 8.5 Fantasy Power Points out of first place in the NFLC. It's actually a pretty tight race in the NFLC as only 16 Power Points separate the top 4 teams... Also this week, the Birdmen pecked division rival Repercussions to jump into 2nd place in the AFLC, and DaWop stayed on top of the NFLC with a convincing victory over Microburst... In other news, the Red Bulls stayed undefeated with a ONE POINT victory over Carnage! Man- I feel for ya Carnage - your 2 losses this year are by a total of 1.1 points. And the Terminators had a dominating win against the Bombs who are still looking to turn things around... This week's FITA award goes to the Ballhawks for getting 2nd high score but losing to the Jury. That makes 2 weeks in a row that the 2nd highest scoring team lost their game! Thankfully this isn't a win-loss league...

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Jury 117 - Ballhawks 111
Birdmen 103 - Repercussions 83
DaWop 100 - Microburst 67
Red Bulls 100 - Carnage 99
Terminators 99 - Bombs 68

Week 3 complete! - Tuesday, September 29, 2009

It's been a strange first 3 weeks of the season as there have been alot of minor injuries and alot of inconsistent performances by NFL players which have affected the FLFL scores & matchups. Carnage Inc "dominated again" this week as they threw the Terminators into a huge vat of liquid nitrogen and beat them 116-109 in a very high scoring affair. Carnage was led by Manning's 4 TDs and Maurice Jones-Drew's 147 yards, 4 catches, and 3 TDs... The Red Bulls are the only remaining undfeated team as they digglered the Repercussions and had the 3rd high score this week... In other news, the Bombs defeated DaWop by ONE point (alot of close matchups so far this season!) to win their first game, and the Ballhawks also picked up their first W and handed the Birdmen their first loss of the season. No winless teams left! This week's FITA award goes to the Terminators for getting 2nd high score but losing their game (OUCH), and this week's Lucky Lindy award goes to Microburst for getting 3rd lowest score but defeating the J-J-J-Jury.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Carnage 116 - Terminators 109
Red Bulls 102 - Repercussions 84
Ballhawks 99 - Birdmen 66
Bombs 96 - DaWop 95
Microburst 80 - Jury 65

Week 2 complete! - Tuesday, September 22, 2009

DaWop made up for a lousy first week by scoring a whopping 158 points led by Chris Johnson's 284 yards, 9 catches, and 3 TDs! That is the best output ever for one player I believe. And DaWop's 158 team points this week are the 2nd most in the history of the FLFL (the Ballhawks had 164 back in Week 9 of 2007! Too bad my team stinks this year...) DaWop's huge week leapfrogged him from 9th place overall into first place in his division... In other news, the Birdmen are now 2-0 as they beat Microburst 133-117 in a high scoring affair. The Red Bulls are the only other undefeated team left as they took down the Bombs this week 116-81... Also this week, the Terminators used a big game from Ronnie Brown on Monday Night Football to defeat the Ballhawks, and Carnage Inc avenged his disappointing week 1 loss by picking up a W over the Repercussions... This week's FITA award goes to Microburst for getting 3rd high score but getting crapped on by the Birdmen, and this week's lucky-duck award goes to Carnage for getting 3rd low score but having a favorable matchup.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

DaWop 158 - Jury 97
Birdmen 133 - Microburst 117
Red Bulls 116 - Bombs 81
Terminators 104 - Ballhawks 86
Carnage 83 - Repercussions 60

Week 1 complete! - Tuesday, September 15, 2009

Team Microburst EXPLODED onto the FLFL scene in week 1 by racking up 116 points with a pretty balanced attack. Microburst had 5 of their 6 position players score between 16 and 21 points led by Greg Jennings' awesome 50-yard TD on 3rd-and-1 with 1:11 left in the game and subsequent 2-pt conversion. Resto's Repercussions also had a solid first week by scoring a whopping 114 points and silencing the critics... The most exciting game of the week featured Well Hung Jury and Carnage Inc as the Jury SQUEEKED by Carnage 108.95 to 108.85!! That's the closest score in FLFL history!! I investigated this game further and Well Hung Jury actually still would have won the game pre-2007 (before decimal scoring and points per reception)... Also this week, the Red Bulls started off their return to the FLFL with a W over DaWop, and the Birdmen flapped their wings all over the Terminators... This week's FITA award goes to Carnage who tied for 3rd hi-score but lost by 0.1 points (I still can't get over that!). This week's PITV award goes to Birdman who got 2nd low score but still managed to pick up a W.

Below are this week's matchups. Good luck next week!

Microburst 116 - Bombs 89
Repercussions 114 - Ballhawks 81
Jury 108.95 - Carnage 108.85
Red Bulls 85 - DaWop 76
Birdmen 76 - Terminators 70

2009 FLFL Predictions! - Monday, August 31, 2009

NFLC

1. Well Hung Jury - Matt's team looks pretty dominant this year as I can't seem to find any holes on his squad. Adrian Peterson will be the anchor of this team who will carry Matt to a handful of victories all by himself. Throw in Portis-head, Rowdy Roddy White, "Hooshmanzablehbleh", Brandon Marshall, and Donovan McNabb, and WATCH OUT! Hopefully this preseason #1 ranking won't give Matt the "Birdman curse" from last season.

2. Terminators - I like the Evil Robots, errr, Terminators alot this year. Tom Brady is back and could carry Boogs all the way to the championship if he can somehow reclaim his 2007 magic. And Brady slipped to the 3rd round for the Terminators! This squad nabbed two stud RBs with their first two picks in Michael Turner and Ronnie Wildcat Brown. The Terminators receiving corps features three players who could go off any given week. Vincent Jackson is a straight up Calvin-like freak who Rivers will be throwing darts and lobs to all season. Braylon "I was a stud in 2007 but choked last year" Edwards has the potential to return to stardom and Santana Moss is a consistent performer year in and year out. Watch out for the LIQUID MERCURY comin atcha!

3. Carnage, Inc. - Dustin managed to put together a solid squad this year even though he was roughly 400 miles away during the draft. Thankfully some generous FLFL owners volunteered to lead Dustin to the promised land. Dustin grabbed one of the last true 3-down non-running-back-by-committee players in Jones-Drew with the 5th pick overall, and followed that up with TE-converted RB Brandon Jacobs and Peyton "I'm an offensive coordinator playing QB" Manning. The Carnage WRs aren't too shabby either with #85 on the Bengals, and the 1-2 Steeler punch of SanAntonio Holmes and Hines Ward.

4. Bill's Bombs - The Bombs probably have the best 1-2 punch in RBs with Tomlinson and Steven Jackson, but there is some injury-risk at QB and WR as all 3 WRs of the Bombs starters are currently on the injury report. Owens is the #1 guy on this squad, and he says his toe is healed, but only time will tell if he can reclaim his old magic in Buffalo. Welker has been a solid NFL WR 2 years in a row but he takes some nasty hits as the over-the-middle guy. Antonio Bryant has alot of potential but he too is dinged up. And how long will Warner last?? Regardless, the Bombs ALWAYS find a way to compete so no matter what my predictions say, Bill will probably end up near the top anyway (as long as they can stay away from the Microburst).

5. DaWop - DaWop "went away from his normal draft strategy" and couldn't resist a 1-2 2nd-year runningback punch of Steve Slaton and Chris Johnson. Those 2 horses could carry this team, and DaWop managed to get some great value with Phillip Rivers in the 5th round. The WRs actually aren't too bad on DaWop, with Colston, Bowe, and Cotchery, but is Colston fully healed and will Brees stop spreading the ball around so much? Is Bowe for real? Will Cotchery do anything with a rookie QB throwing to him? DaWop had 3rd pick last year and finished in 3rd place. DaWop had 9th pick this year and will finish in...

AFLC

1. Red Bulls - After a short break from the FLFL, the Red Bulls returned in full-force with a great draft. Matt Forte is one of only a few 3-down non-running-back-by-committee guys left in the league, and Chicago is supposed to have a cakewalk schedule, so Forte should have a huge year. 2nd round pick Drew Brees is shooting for 6000 yards this season, although word on the street is that at least one owner of the Red Bulls is looking to deal Brees for the Packers QB. Pierre Thomas, Anquan "decoy jersey" Boldin, DeSean "don't drop the ball on the 1-yardline" Jackson, and Donald Holy Driver round off this team who appears to be a force to be reckoned with.

2. Birdmen - Birdman started off his team with the Johnson & Johnson connection of Andre and Calvin - two beasts who should put up huge numbers. Follow that up with Barber, Grant, and Carson Palmer, and the Birdmen have a nice solid squad who will be looking to bounce back after a surprising down season. Fantasy sleeper: Matt Leinart! How long will Warner last? He's getting up there and if he goes down Leinart could dominate! He had 360 yards and 3 TDs in one half last preseason game! (sure it was against a bunch of scrubs, but still...)

3. Microburst - The A-Holes decided to do a 180 and change their team name to Microburst which seemed to be a good luck charm for this year's draft. I really like team Microburst who has 2 solid RBs in Gore and Kevin Smith, some solid WRs in Fitzgerald, Jennings, and Witten/Evans, and a solid two-headed monster QB in Cutler and Ryan. Don't be surprised if Microburst wins this division!

4. Ballhawks - My draft strategy this year was to draft a "different squad" so I could root for some different players this season. Well, 3 of my first 4 picks were on my team last year (D.Williams, S.Smith, Rodgers) so that plan pretty much backfired. I'm looking for those guys and Moss to carry me this season as I have some question marks at my other starting positions. Who the heck is Ray Rice? Is he really one of my starters? Ughhh. And Anthony Gonzalez? He may end up being an over-hyped bum who can't handle Manning's rocket arm.

5. Repercussions - Dedo is already looking to make some trades, but the Repercussions did manage to draft some solid players in Westbrook, Wayne, Romo, Roy Williams, and Berrian. But Dedo's #2 RB Hightower may not even be his team's best option as Beanie Wells looked pretty solid last weekend. I think I'm doing Dedo a favor with this last place prediction- the team I predicted to get last place in this division last year ended up doing pretty well. Go Repercussions!
